"Integrating Yoga into Outpatient Eating Disorder Treatment" By Debra Benfield, MEd, RDN, LDN, RYT-200 and Karin Lawson, PsyD, CEDS, RYT-200

In this didactic and experiential workshop, a registered dietitian and clinical psychologist, both registered yoga teachers certified in Curvy Yoga, will discuss how we individually came to integrate yoga into our work as outpatient practitioners. We will discuss patient assessment, invitation to yoga, and integrating yoga back into session. Themes of self-awareness, self-soothing and self-compassion will be incorporated.

Debra Benfield, M.Ed., RDN, LDN, RYT has 30 years of clinical experience, Debra is a nutrition therapist specializing in the treatment of eating disorders.  Over the last 10 years, Debra has integrated yoga into her treatment and became a RYT with Curvy Yoga 3 years ago.  Debra is passionate about offering yoga, along with nutritional therapy, to support recovery from eating disorders in her clients and students.

Karin Lawson, Psy.D., CEDS, RYT is a licensed clinical psychologist and certified eating disorder specialist in Miami, Florida. After serving as a clinical director at Oliver-Pyatt Centers for 5 years, Karin continues her passion in private practice. She is certified in Curvy Yoga, which promotes making yoga accessible and body positive regardless of age, ability or size.
