Recovery in All Shapes and Sizes: Using Health at Every Size® Principles to inform Eating Disorders Care - presented by Leah L Graves RDN, LDN, CEDS-S, FAED with the iaedp Jacksonville Chapter

Eating disorders occur in people living in all body types. Specialty eating disorders care that is provided using a weight inclusive paradigm offers clients a path to recovery that is respectful and affirming. This workshop is designed to orient the participant to the foundational principles of weight inclusive care across a variety of eating disorder diagnoses. Participants will have an opportunity to learn how weight-bias impacts client care and develop strategies for use in varying levels of care. Specific discussion on assessing nutrition state and determining treatment targets in clients with OSFED-Atypical Anorexia Nervosa will be presented.

Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this presentation, participants will be able to:

  • Identify at least one tool for assessing personal weight bias
  • List the basic principles of weight inclusive care informed by the Health at Every Size® (HAES) paradigm
  • Apply guidelines for setting treatment targets for clients who are weight suppressed and living in larger bodies
  • Conceptualize at least to ways to apply principles of the HAES® paradigm to inform your practice
