Body Trust is a radical revisioning of what it means to occupy and care for your body in a culture that doesn’t trust people with their bodies, especially those who are marginalized. Body Trust offers a way out of the predictable, repetitive pattern of dieting, disordered eating and weight cycling fueled by shame, trauma, and body-based oppression. In this workshop, we will explore how the constructs of diet culture, including healthism and nutritionism, and the traditional weight paradigm influence the cycle of socialization and discuss how health care communities, and more specifically the eating disorder treatment community, can play an integral role in shifting these ideologies both in the clients they serve and the world at large.
