Sit, Stay, Heal: Retraining the Brain and Body of the Compulsive Exerciser presented by Maria Sorbara Mora
Although Compulsive exercise is not a recognized clinical diagnosis in the DSM-5, there is a strong link with eating disorders. Compulsive exercise is movement that significantly interferes with life and well being. Compulsive exercise can be used to eradicate calories and to manage emotions. Neurologically speaking, excessive exercise causes brain changes. To recover from exercise disorders one must retrain the body to accommodate a safe amount of exercise. This workshop will give an in-depth look into exercise disorders as well as introduce, ‘Sit’, ‘Stay’, ‘Heal’, a modality that provides an opportunity to create a new relationship to movement.
