This webinar looks at recent research related to the benefits of gratitude (Kerr, O’Donovan, and Pepping 2014), (Emmons and McCullough 2004), purpose, and meaning (Schaefer et al. 2013), (McKnight and Kashdan 2009). It focuses on the arc of spiritual growth leading from self-oriented to altruistic behavior and shows how experiencing gratitude can place an individual on the path to understand one’s meaning and purpose. Special attention will be placed on incorporating meaningful strategies to implement gratitude interventions among the eating disorder population.

Bio:

Steve Wright is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and a Registered Dual-Disorder Professional in Illinois. He received he Bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies from Central Bible College and went on to get his Master of Arts in Teaching from Olivet Nazarene University and his Master of Arts in Community Counseling from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology. Steve began his career as a Minister in various churches working with youth, adults, and families. For the past 10 years he has worked as a therapist, supervisor, coordinator, and program director in the residential setting with substance abuse, eating disorders and now at Timberline Knolls residential as a therapist and speaker. He has spoken at national conferences on topics such as Gratitude, Spiritual Formation, and Substance Abuse related to families.
